365 Complete Works 25

Scottish fiddler, composer and producer Aidan O’Rourke (Lau) releases his new album 365 Complete Works 24 on November 6th 2020 via Reveal Records. Carefully sequenced by Tom Rose from a years worth of new material, the album is another beautifully sparse and emotive collection recorded with Mercury Prize nominee Kit Downes (ECM) as part of the Scottish New Music Award winning 365 project.

Bold, tender, full of old truths and distilled modern wit, 365 is built on the beauty of the miniature. It’s a collaboration between artists steeped in tradition but constantly breaking new ground.

Tracklist:

  1. Where did he come from, that man with the shining smile?
  2. It was the savage boys watching from the cliffs
  3. At the interval, as the applause dies away and people begin to make for the exits
  4. ’See that Simon Stoblichties,’ the villagers said, ‘he’s aff his heid, a total bampot.’
  5. The garage door ajar, the van backed up to it
  6. Outside the restaurant I paused
  7. On this day, the first recorded total eclipse of Scotland took place
  8. Amid the fumy, head-pounding traffic, on the other side of the glass, upside down almost, a tangle-haired, grinning face
  9. Something was eating the poison in the woodshed, lots of it
  10. ’Heroic’, that was a favourite word of his.
