365 Complete Works 27

Scottish fiddler, composer and producer Aidan O’Rourke (Lau) releases his new album 365 Complete Works 24 on November 6th 2020 via Reveal Records. Carefully sequenced by Tom Rose from a years worth of new material, the album is another beautifully sparse and emotive collection recorded with Mercury Prize nominee Kit Downes (ECM) as part of the Scottish New Music Award winning 365 project.

Bold, tender, full of old truths and distilled modern wit, 365 is built on the beauty of the miniature. It’s a collaboration between artists steeped in tradition but constantly breaking new ground.

Tracklist:

  1. The queue shuffled forward a few feet, stopped, then moved again
  2. Five bags of sugar
  3. He’d stayed out too long, walking on the shore in the gathering dusk
  4. Janice imagined her mouth must resemble the cutlery basket of a dish-washer
  5. Getting out of bed he tripped on a stray shoe and twisted his ankle
  6. The clock that hung in the hallway was not behaving
  7. The people of the plain built their houses low, one storey tall or sometimes with only half a storey above ground
  8. Now here are our main stories again, and I should warn you that some of these are accompanied by flashes of inconsequence
  9. One day in town Jack becomes aware of a sinister figure lurking nearby
  10. You sometimes hear it said about a baby, new-born or perhaps a few weeks old
